A13 questions

What do buyers ask about Dayatas Profab resin?

The questions resin buyers ask Dayatas Profab cover the resins it sells, whether the ABS is recycled, packing, documents, markets and prices.

01

What does Dayatas Profab sell?

Dayatas Profab sells three plastic resins for injection moulding: ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), PS (polystyrene) and HIPS (high impact polystyrene). We sell to moulders and buyers all around the world, including China and India. Our ABS is sold as recycled pellet; the form of our PS and HIPS is being confirmed. Each resin has its own page with what it is known for and which datasheet values to ask for. More resins may be added to this page later; if you are looking for a resin that is not here, ask us.

02

Is your ABS recycled or virgin?

Dayatas Profab's ABS is recycled: it is recycled pellet, made in Malaysia, in 25 kg bags printed "ABS RECYCLED PELLET / MADE IN MALAYSIA / NET WEIGHT 25KG", as our own production footage shows. Recycled ABS is reprocessed from plastic scrap that has been crushed, washed, sorted and extruded into new pellets. How it compares with virgin resin for a moulder is set out on our recycled vs virgin page, and the ABS itself has its own page.

03

Are your PS and HIPS recycled?

Dayatas Profab sells PS and HIPS alongside its recycled ABS, but whether each is recycled, virgin or a blend has not been confirmed yet, so this page does not state it. When you enquire, name the resin and the part you mould, and we will tell you what the current material is and which documents are ready for it. The PS and HIPS pages will carry the answer once it is confirmed.

04

How is the resin packed?

Dayatas Profab packs its ABS in 25 kg bags printed "ABS RECYCLED PELLET / MADE IN MALAYSIA / NET WEIGHT 25KG"; our footage shows pellets bagged from a silo and the bags in warehouse stock. Packing for PS and HIPS is being confirmed. If your plant needs a different pack for its handling or its shipping, say so in your enquiry, with the quantity and the destination port, and we will tell you what is possible.

05

What can I mould with your resin?

Moulders use Dayatas Profab's resin for injection-moulded parts such as monitor housings and motorbike covers. More generally, ABS goes into electronics housings, automotive parts and household appliances; HIPS into appliance parts, for example in refrigerators; and general-purpose PS into rigid, clear parts not expected to take impact. Tell us the part you mould and what it must survive, and we will tell you which of our resins suits it.

06

ABS, PS or HIPS: which should I choose?

Dayatas Profab sells all three, and the choice starts from what the part must survive. General-purpose PS is clear, hard and brittle, so it suits rigid parts not expected to take impact. HIPS adds a rubber phase that makes polystyrene tougher, which is why it is used for appliance parts that get handled. ABS brings strength, scratch resistance and a good finish, which is why housings and covers are moulded from it. For a part on the border between two, send us a drawing or a photo with your enquiry.

DOCDocuments and proof

07

Can I see a datasheet before I order?

Dayatas Profab's spec sheets for ABS, PS and HIPS are not on this site yet; they will be posted on the quality and documents page, and no datasheet value is quoted before then. Until a sheet is posted, tell us the resin you need and we will tell you what is available for it today. When a sheet arrives, read three numbers first: the melt flow index is the first guide to whether it will flow like the resin you run now, impact strength shows how tough it is against a knock, and density tells you what a part will weigh for its volume.

08

Do you have test reports and certification?

Copies of Dayatas Profab's test reports, certification and licences are not on this site yet; each will be posted on the quality and documents page, and no test figure or certificate is quoted before then. Tell us what your market requires, because buyers in Europe and America ask a lot for test reports and certification, and housings may need a flame rating. We will tell you what is ready for your resin and what is still to come, so you can plan your own approval around it.

09

Can I see your production?

Yes: Dayatas Profab's own production film, 31 seconds and silent, shows each step, from plastic scrap heaped in the yard and a loader tipping crushed flakes, through the washing line and the sorting machine, to molten strands leaving the extruder into cooling water, pellets on a sieve and pellets bagged from a silo. It plays on our home page, and each step is explained on our page about how the resin is made.

10

Which countries do you sell to?

Dayatas Profab sells to buyers all around the world, including China and India. Buyers in Europe and America ask a lot for documents: spec sheets, test reports, certification and video of the production. Wherever you are, the enquiry is the same: the resin, the part, the quantity and the destination port. Dayatas Profab's resin is made in Malaysia; tell us the destination port and we will reply with what is possible.

11

Can I get a sample?

Dayatas Profab handles trial requests one enquiry at a time, and no sample policy is published on this site. Tell us the resin, the part you mould and the quantity you expect to buy, and we will reply on what is possible for a trial. A run in your own tool is the surest test of a recycled resin, because it shows how the resin fills the mould, how the part looks and whether it survives the knocks it must take.

12

What are your prices, minimum order and lead times?

No prices, minimum orders or lead times are listed on this site. Ask about them in your enquiry, with the resin, the part you mould, the quantity per month or per shipment and the destination port, and ask about payment and delivery terms in the same message; the details come in the reply. If you compare suppliers, ask each for the same documents, so the prices you compare are for like-for-like material.

13

What should I put in a resin enquiry?

Dayatas Profab needs five things in a resin enquiry to answer on the first reply: the resin, the part you mould, the quantity, the destination port and the documents you need.

  • The resinABS, PS or HIPS, and the colour if it matters.
  • The part you mouldWhat it is and what it must survive.
  • The quantityPer month or per shipment.
  • The destination portWhere the shipment should arrive.
  • The documents you needSpec sheet, test report, certification or the production film.

The buyer door of the enquiry form has a field or a tick box for most of them; put the rest in the message box.

B6 questions

What do scrap suppliers ask before offering us material?

Scrap suppliers ask Dayatas Profab which plastic it looks for, where from, what to send, and which rules a shipment must meet.

14

What plastic scrap do you look for?

Dayatas Profab looks for plastic scrap, especially from home appliance products, automotive parts and crushed product. If your material is something else, describe it anyway: say what it came from, the polymer if you know it, and its form, whether parts, bales, regrind or flakes. Sorted material with little contamination is the easiest to judge from a description and a few photos, and the easiest to ship: Malaysia's import approval asks for one polymer per lot (question 18).

15

Where do you source scrap from?

Dayatas Profab is looking for scrap suppliers in Europe, America, Japan and Korea, for plastic from home appliances, automotive parts and crushed product. If you hold material elsewhere, you can still offer it: tell us the country, the town and the port it would ship from, and we will reply on whether it fits. Every shipment also has to meet the plastic waste rules of the countries involved, and both sides must check them before anything ships. Two of them decide a route before anything else. Malaysia admits waste plastic only from countries that are parties to the Basel Convention or that have an agreement or arrangement with Malaysia, one polymer per lot; the United States is not a Basel party, so a seller in the United States would need the agreement or arrangement route, and should ask us first. And the EU bans plastic waste exports to non-OECD countries such as Malaysia from 21 November 2026 (question 18).

16

What should I send to offer scrap?

Dayatas Profab needs five details in a scrap offer: the source, the polymer, the form, the quantity and where the material is.

  • The sourceHome appliance, automotive, crushed product or other.
  • The polymerABS, PS or HIPS, if you know it; one polymer per lot.
  • The formParts, bales, regrind or flakes.
  • The quantityHow much, and how often you have it.
  • Where it isThe country, the town and the port it would ship from.

Photos help us judge the material quickly: mention that you have them and we will tell you where to send them. The supplier door of the enquiry form has tick boxes for the source; the rest goes in the message box.

RULESShipping and paperwork

17

Do you take mixed or dirty scrap?

Whether a lot fits is answered from your description, but recycled resin is only as consistent as its input. Mixed or contaminated material gives a resin whose properties vary, which is why plastic for recycling is sorted by polymer type and colour. Sorted material is also easier to ship: Malaysia's import approval asks for one polymer per lot, at least 99.5% of it, with no more than 2% other material and no e-waste, oil or food waste, and a mixed lot needs prior informed consent first (question 18). Describe exactly what you have, and we will tell you whether it fits.

18

What rules apply to shipping plastic scrap across borders?

Plastic scrap crossing a border falls under the Basel Convention's plastic waste entries, in force since 1 January 2021, and under the rules of each country involved; both sides must check them before anything ships. Which entry a lot falls under decides whether it needs prior informed consent.

The Basel Convention's plastic waste entries, in force since 1 January 2021 (sources below)
EntryWhat it coversPrior informed consent?
B3011Plastic waste presumed not hazardous: almost entirely one non-halogenated polymer (PS and ABS among them), or a PE, PP and PET mixture sent for separate recycling; almost free from contamination and destined for environmentally sound recyclingNot under the Convention; the importing country sets its own requirements (Malaysia's are below)
Y48Other plastic waste, mixtures included (a mixed ABS and PS lot among them), that is neither B3011 nor A3210Yes: from the importing country and any transit countries, before it ships
A3210Plastic waste presumed hazardousYes, as a hazardous waste

For scrap shipped to Malaysia, Malaysia's own rules decide first. Since 1 July 2025 every import of waste plastic needs a Certificate of Approval from SIRIM, and SIRIM's guidelines (May 2025, clause 3.3) allow imports only from countries that are parties to the Basel Convention or that have an agreement or arrangement with Malaysia on waste plastic. The United States is not a Basel party, so a seller in the United States would need the agreement or arrangement route, and should ask us first. SIRIM accepts one polymer per lot, at least 99.5% of it, with no more than 2% other material and no e-waste, oil or food waste, and a mixed Y48 lot needs prior informed consent from Malaysia's Department of Environment. From the EU, plastic waste exports have needed prior consent since 21 May 2026, B3011 included, and exports of plastic waste to non-OECD countries, Malaysia among them, are banned from 21 November 2026 until at least 21 May 2029.

19

Do you hold an import licence?

Copies of Dayatas Profab's licences are not on this site yet; they will be posted on the quality and documents page, so no licence type or number is stated here. Ask us before you ship anything, and we will tell you what we can show for your material, your country and the route. In Malaysia each import of waste plastic needs a SIRIM Certificate of Approval (question 18), and no consignment should leave until both sides have checked the paperwork that the plastic waste rules require.
