Home appliance plastic scrap, wanted for resin.
Dayatas Profab, a Malaysian company that sells ABS, PS and HIPS resin, is looking to buy home appliance plastic scrap from suppliers in Europe, America, Japan and Korea. Scrap of those three polymers suits it best; ABS and HIPS are both used in household appliances. Malaysia admits such scrap only with a SIRIM approval, as single-polymer lots, from Basel Convention parties or countries with an arrangement with Malaysia, and EU rules ban plastic waste exports to non-OECD countries such as Malaysia from 21 November 2026.

Which appliance parts does Dayatas Profab want, and in which polymers?
Dayatas Profab looks for the plastic parts of scrapped household appliances; parts in ABS, HIPS and PS, the resins it sells, suit it best.
Housings, refrigerator parts, covers and trays are the large moulded parts an appliance recycler separates from the metal, glass and foam. ABS, valued for strength, scratch resistance and finish, is widely used in household appliances [1]; HIPS, a more durable polystyrene than general-purpose PS, is used in appliances such as refrigerators [1]. If a part carries a moulded polymer marking, say what it reads: it settles the question faster than any description. Each resin has its own page: ABS resin, HIPS resin and PS resin.

| Housings | ABS | Casings and back covers; ABS is widely used in household appliances [1]. Read the marking. |
| Small appliance bodies | ABS | ABS is used in vacuum cleaners, blenders, coffee makers and toasters [2]. Read the marking. |
| Refrigerator parts | HIPS | HIPS is used in appliances such as refrigerators [1]; say which parts you have. |
| TV and monitor casings | ABS · HIPS | Flame retardants have been used in TV covers of these polymers [3]: read the flame retardant section before offering them. |
| Covers, lids and trays | Read the marking | Say whether they are clear, white or coloured, and whether they are marked. |

Who can offer appliance plastic to Dayatas Profab?
Dayatas Profab is looking for appliance plastic from suppliers in Europe, America, Japan and Korea; appliance recyclers, dismantlers and crushing operations usually hold it.
Recyclers and dismantlers take scrapped washing machines, refrigerators and smaller appliances apart, for their metal or for all their materials, and are left with the plastic; crushing operations take it one step further, into flake or regrind. Appliance plastic can be offered whole, baled or crushed: say which. Crushed lots have their own checklist under crushed product.
- Whole partsHousings, refrigerator parts, covers and trays as they come off the appliance.
- BaledParts pressed and strapped into bales.
- CrushedAppliance plastic already put through a crusher: flake or regrind.

How should appliance plastic be sorted before it ships to Malaysia?
For Dayatas Profab, appliance plastic has to arrive as one polymer per lot: Malaysia admits ABS, PS and HIPS scrap only when 99.5% or more of a lot is the one polymer [4].
Plastic for recycling is sorted by polymer type and colour, ground into flakes and washed, and mixed or contaminated material gives inconsistent properties [5]. Malaysia also caps other materials, such as metal, glass and paper, at 2% of a lot and admits no e-waste [4]. So take out what the board lists before you offer a load. Say whether the lot is colour-sorted.

Why do flame retardants matter in appliance plastic?
Say where appliance plastic came from: some appliance plastic carries brominated flame retardants.
These additives make plastic harder to set alight, and they have been used in the same polymers Dayatas Profab sells as resin, ABS and HIPS [3]. So casings from old televisions and monitors need their history known before they are offered. This site gives no accepted flame-retardant limit: ask Dayatas Profab before offering such casings, and say what you know about the source, even if it is only the kind of appliance and its age. The glossary explains flame retardant.
- What they are. Brominated flame retardants have been used in plastic television covers, in HIPS and in ABS [3].
- Why it matters. One of them, decaBDE, was listed in 2017 under the Stockholm Convention on persistent organic pollutants, for elimination [6], and Malaysia admits no hazardous waste in imported plastic [4].
- What to tell Dayatas Profab. Which appliances the plastic came from, roughly how old they were, and any test of the material's additives you hold.

Which rules apply to appliance plastic in each supply region?
Rules checked
Appliance plastic for Dayatas Profab carries two sets of rules: those for the appliance as waste equipment where it was scrapped, and those for its plastic once it ships to Malaysia.
Malaysia's import rules come first, because Dayatas Profab can only take what they admit; the cards set out the rest for each region. Tell Dayatas Profab your country and route: we will tell you what we know. Our licensing documents are to come and will be on quality and documents. The Basel entries and every route are on shipping rules for plastic scrap, and WEEE is in the glossary.

Scrapped appliances are collected and treated under the WEEE Directive [8]. From 21 November 2026, plastic waste exports to non-OECD countries such as Malaysia are banned [9][10].
