Dayatas Profab, a resin company in Malaysia that sells ABS, PS and HIPS to injection moulders, is looking to buy automotive plastic scrap from suppliers in Europe, America, Japan and Korea. ABS suits it best; ABS is used in vehicle parts such as dashboards, door panels and grilles, but not every such part is ABS, so read the marking. Malaysia admits such scrap only as single-polymer lots, and EU rules ban plastic waste exports to non-OECD countries such as Malaysia from 21 November 2026.

Which vehicle plastics does Dayatas Profab want, and which should you ask about?
Dayatas Profab looks for plastic from dismantled cars and motorbikes; ABS, one of the three resins it sells, suits it best.
ABS is a high-volume engineering plastic whose primary uses include automotive parts [2], and injection moulding is the most common way ABS parts are made [1]. The table lists vehicle parts ABS is used for. Not every such part is ABS, so read the marking moulded into a part before you offer a load; for parts in polypropylene (PP), a blend or another polymer, ask Dayatas Profab first. More on ABS resin and on ABS, PS and HIPS resin.

Who holds automotive plastic that Dayatas Profab can use?
Dayatas Profab is looking for automotive plastic from suppliers in Europe, America, Japan and Korea; vehicle dismantlers, recyclers and crushing operations usually hold it.
Dismantlers, of cars and of motorbikes, take the plastic parts off end-of-life vehicles, often as whole trim pieces, panels and fairings. Recyclers gather and sort that plastic from several dismantlers. Crushing operations put it through a crusher and sell it on as flake or regrind. Whole or crushed, an offer has to say what the parts were and which polymer they are, one polymer per lot.

What has to come off a vehicle part before it is offered?
Malaysia's import rules decide what has to come off: automotive plastic ships as one polymer per lot, with the metal, foam, fabric and glass taken off.
Malaysia admits ABS, PS and HIPS scrap only when 99.5% or more of a lot is the one polymer, and caps other materials at 2% [3]. Plastic for recycling is sorted by polymer type and colour, ground into flakes and washed, and mixed or contaminated material gives inconsistent properties [4]. Steps 01 to 03 follow from Malaysia's rules; 04 and 05 let Dayatas Profab judge the load from what you say and from photos.
- 01Separate by polymerRead the marking moulded into each part; Malaysia requires one polymer per lot [3].
- 02Remove metal fixingsClips, screws, brackets and inserts: Malaysia caps other materials at 2% of a lot [3].
- 03Remove foam, fabric and glassPadding, coverings and any glazing still attached, for the same 2% cap.
- 04Say whether parts are paintedPainted, unpainted or mixed: say which; this site sets no paint limit, so ask.
- 05Photograph the loadA wide shot and a close-up, for a first judgement from photos.

What do the new EU vehicle rules mean for automotive plastic?
The EU's new vehicle rules are market background for any buyer of automotive plastic, Dayatas Profab included.
They give recycled plastic a set place in new vehicles sold in the EU. They do not open a route to Malaysia: from 21 November 2026, EU rules ban plastic waste exports to non-OECD countries [6], and Malaysia is not an OECD member [7]. For Japan, Korea and the Americas, the next section sets out the route. More on how Dayatas Profab's recycled ABS is made.
Recycled plastic in new EU vehicles from 2032, rising to 25% from 2036, under Regulation (EU) 2026/1738, in force since 13 August 2026 [5].

Can automotive plastic ship to Malaysia from your country?
Rules checked
Automotive plastic ships to Dayatas Profab only if Malaysia's import rules admit it and the exporting country lets it leave.
Plastic waste crossing a border falls under the Basel Convention plastic waste entries [13]: plastic waste that is not almost free from contamination falls under Y48, which needs prior informed consent [14]. Each region's position is below. Our licensing documents are to come and will be on quality and documents, and the supplier questions in the FAQ cover more. Tell us your country and route: we will tell you what we know.

What goes in an offer of automotive plastic?
An offer of automotive plastic to Dayatas Profab answers the eight points on this list, sent through the supplier door of the enquiry form.
Dayatas Profab replies on whether the material fits its resin; ask about the route at the same time. The full offer sheet is on sell us your plastic scrap, and if you also hold plastic from scrapped appliances, home appliance plastic scrap says what is wanted there. Words such as bale and flake are in the glossary, and supplier guides are on Insights.
